How to create, share and track a short link with Urlzbit

A practical walkthrough for creating your first short link, choosing its preview, sharing a QR code and understanding your click activity.

Urlzbit: Small links. Bigger possibilities.

A short link gives you a manageable address to share in messages, social posts or printed material. Urlzbit keeps the link and its settings in one workspace, so you can organize a campaign and review what happens after you share it.

This guide walks through the basic workflow. Some customization and routing options depend on your plan and on the features enabled by the site administrator.

Create your first link

Sign in and open My links. Choose New link, then paste the complete destination address, including https://. Check that the destination opens correctly before saving it.

Give the link a descriptive title so you can recognize it later. If your plan includes custom endings, choose a short, readable ending that matches the campaign. Otherwise, Urlzbit generates an ending for you.

Save the link and copy the address from the sharing screen. Keep the managed Urlzbit address in your campaign notes so you can return to the same link later.

Choose a helpful social preview

Open the link editor and expand Social preview. Add a title, a short description and an image that accurately represent the page you are sharing. You can upload a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 2 MB, or provide a public image URL.

Only use images and text that you are authorized to share. A preview helps people understand a link, but the destination itself should also match their expectations. Social platforms can cache previews, so an edited image or description may take time to appear on an already shared post.

Share a QR code

Open More options for the saved link, then choose QR code. Download the code and test it with a phone before adding it to a poster, card or document.

The QR code points to the managed link. If you later edit the link destination, you can keep the same managed address and printed code. Always test again after changing a destination.

Use Google sharing when available

If your plan includes Google sharing, you can request a Google sharing link during creation or from the saved link's options. It points back to your managed Urlzbit URL, so the destination rules remain in your workspace.

Google sharing depends on the upstream service being available. If generation fails, the regular managed short link remains usable. A Google sharing address does not make Urlzbit a Google service or guarantee a ranking benefit in Google Search.

Send different audiences to relevant pages

Country targeting can help when you have genuinely different pages for different audiences, such as regional product pages or translated campaign information. In the link editor, add a country and its destination under Country targeting, when your plan includes that feature.

Keep a useful default destination for visitors whose country is unknown or who do not match a rule. Country detection is approximate and can be affected by VPNs and network routing. Use Test routing to check a configured rule before promoting the link. Administrator global rules can take precedence over individual link rules.

Read your click activity carefully

Open Analytics to compare recorded clicks over time and review the available country, device and referring-website breakdowns. You can open analytics for a particular link from its options.

Recorded clicks are requests to your short link. Some automated social-preview requests may be counted, so click totals are not a promise of unique human visitors. Unknown countries remain unknown when lookup information was unavailable at the time of the visit.

Keep campaigns organized

  • Use folders to group links for the same project.
  • Add tags that help you find related campaigns.
  • Pause a link when you want it to stop opening temporarily.
  • Archive links that you want to keep but remove from your main list.
  • Use permanent deletion only when you are ready for shared copies to stop working.

Start with one link, test the complete journey on your phone and computer, then share it with your audience. A clear destination and a useful preview matter more than a clever URL ending.
